Everson man drowns in Nooksack River

EVERSON, Wash. — An Everson man drowned in the Nooksack River Wednesday evening.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies and Whatcom Fire District One responded at about 5:45 p.m. after family members reported that Jeffrey George Sr. didn’t return from a fishing trip as expected.

They found him floating face down in the river near the 6400 block of George Road with his boat floating nearby.

Responders performed CPR at the scene but he couldn’t be revived.
