BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University sophomore Ethan Casto has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week after his second-place finish at last week’s Bay Area Invitational.

Casto (Snohomish,WA) finished the 54-hole tournament at 7-over-par 223, carding rounds of 76-70-77 to place 2nd in the 83-player field and was the highest-placing player of the six GNAC teams that competed in the tournament.

The finish was Casto’s best in his nine career tournaments as a Viking, bettering his 13th-place finish at last season’s Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw. He fell one stroke short of tournament champion Zack Sims of Holy Names (+6, 222) in the three-round tournament played at The Course at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, Calif.

The Vikings are currently playing in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay at The Club at Ruby Hill in Pleasanton, Calif.
