ST. LOUIS (USBWA) – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Washington forward Noah Dickerson as its Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Feb. 4. The USBWA’s weekly honor is presented by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.

As the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week, Dickerson was nominated for the weekly award, and then chosen by a representative of the USBWA board of directors from a list of Division I conference players of the week. This is the ninth season that the USBWA has selected a national player of the week.

A 6-8, 245-pound junior from Atlanta, Ga., Dickerson averaged a double-double of 23.0 points on 55 percent shooting (17-for-35) and 11.5 rebounds in Washington’s upset victories over No. 25 Arizona State (68-64) and No. 9 Arizona (78-75) last week.
Dickerson led all players with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting and added seven rebounds and one block in the Huskies’ dramatic upset of the Wildcats on Saturday, Washington’s third win over a ranked opponent this season, including its second top-10 upset. On Thursday, he posted 21 points and 16 rebounds for his second 20-10 double-double of the season in the win over the Sun Devils.

Dickerson leads the Huskies in rebounding (8.1 rpg) and is the team’s second-leading scorer (15.0 ppg).

Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation’s oldest award and the only one named after a former player.
