BIG3 basketball playoffs hit Seattle

The BIG3 playoffs are in the Emerald City Sunday. The 3-on-3 half court basketball league, created in-part by celebrity Ice Cube, will open their post season at Key Arena.

4 games are scheduled, with the top four playing for the championship next weekend in Las Vegas. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.

There is some great local flavor with former Seattle Super Sonics guard and NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton coaching one of the top teams, the 3-Headed Monsters. Payton is coaching a former Sonics teammate in Rashard Lewis. Other players with local ties include former Sonics forward Reggie Evans and former NBA center Brian Scalabrine out of Enumclaw.

Ice Cube co-founded the league with entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz and former NBA player and deputy executive director of the NBA Players Association Roger Mason Jr.. The BIG3 league launched in January with with a Fox Sports 1 TV deal. Highlights of Sunday’s games at KeyArena can be seen on FS1 Monday between 5-and-8pm pacific.
