The Bellingham Bells exploded for seven runs in the ninth inning to take game three from the Port Angeles Lefties, 10-6.
The Bells struck early in the first inning after Guthrie Morrison led off the ball game with a single and was brought home later in the innings by a sacrifice fly from Matt James.
Will Smith started on the mound for the Bells and worked into trouble in the first inning after loading the bases with two outs. David Langer then singled to left to give the Lefties a 2-1 lead.
The Bells came right back in the top of the second inning as they were able to tie it up at two before taking a 3-2 lead in the third after Dusty Stroup came home to score.
Things quieted down in the middle innings as both starters settled in. Smith went five strong innings for Bellingham giving up just two runs on two hits while striking out five.
Theron Kay came into the game in relief and gave up the tying run in the sixth inning and the go-ahead run in the seventh as the Lefties took a 4-3 lead into the eighth inning.
After a scoreless eighth, the Bells had one final chance in the ninth to try to avoid the sweep and that is exactly what they did.
Morrison led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error, one of six in the game for Port Angeles.
Jordan Stoner brought Morrison home on a single to tie the game before Matt James plated the go-ahead run with a double to the wall in left to make it 5-4 Bells.
The Bells plated one more run when Jack Machtolf was hit by a pitch and James was forced home to make it 6-4.
The big blow came off the bat of Griffin McCormick who blasted a grand slam to right field to take away all doubts.
The homer made it 10-4 in favor of Bellingham heading to the bottom of the ninth.
Taylor Davis came on to pitch in the ninth inning and allowed two runs before shutting it down to bring the Bells to 5-4 on the year.
Theron Kay gets the win for Bellingham while Dj Sutorius takes the loss for Port Angeles.
The Bells have the day off Monday before heading to Bend for a three game series on Tuesday.
