Bells Break Out the Bats in Win

The Bellingham Bells used an eight run fourth inning to down the Bend Elks 12-7 and take game three to win the series.

The Bells fell behind early after an error allowed a run to score for Bend in the bottom of the second inning, but the Bells came back in the top of the third and stole a run of their own to tie the game.

After a 2-run homer from Tristan Alvarez in the third the Bells blew the game open in the fourth inning.

The Bells batted around and used eight singles to score eight runs to take a 9-3 lead.

That lead would stand until the bottom of the fifth inning when Ty Holmstrom took Marcos Cuenca deep for a grand slam to cut the lead to 9-7.

That is when Justin Armbruester game into the game and locked it down. Armbruester threw the final 3.2 innings for the Bells allowing no runs on just two hits and seven strikeouts.

The Bells added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning after Jordan Stoner walked to lead off the inning and then Dusty Stroup and Connor Mack hit back-to-back doubles.

Cuenca got the win for the Bells while Justin Armbruester locked down his first save of the season.

The Bells improve their record to 7-5 and extend their lead in the West Coast League North.

The Bells will take on the Portland Pickles at home on Friday at 6:35 in the first of three in a very crucial weekend series.
