Swinomish Man Pleads Guilty In Lummi Wife's Murder



A Swinomish tribal member has pleaded guilty to murdering his common-law wife, who was a Lummi tribal member.

In the plea in U.S. District Court in Seattle, 55-year-old Kevin O’Leary admitted that he smothered Valerie Jefferson with a pillow, wrapped her body in a blanket and hid it under the bed in their Lummi Reservation home.

The murder happened last June 7th.

Law enforcement officers found the body 5 days later.

O’Leary said he killed his wife while they were arguing about an affair he had had over a decade ago.

He faces sentencing on March 8th.
