TULALIP, Wash. (Metro) -- The Tulalip Tribes are worried about the survival of 12 million salmon released from their hatchery this year, including a record 1.3 million Coho.
Tribal officials tell heraldnet.com that the ocean survival rates for both hatchery and wild salmon in the Puget Sound region have nosedived in the past few years.
Northwest tribes are pushing the federal government to take more control of efforts to restore salmon runs that started to come back after being listed as endangered.
They also want enforcement of the Endangered Species Act.
