Reluctant Street Racer Shot In South Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro)  -- Seattle police are searching for a group of men they say shot a driver who refused to street race with them in south Seattle early this morning.

Detectives tell KING 5 News the victims was driving southbound on MLK Jr. Way in his Honda around 2:00 a.m., when a group of men in Silver BMW tried to flag him down Near South Orcas Street.

He didn't stop and the men continued to follow him, trying to get him to race.

When he didn't respond, the victim told officers a passenger in the BMW, described as an Asian male, pulled a gun and fired six shots into the Honda, hitting the victim once.

He was taken to a local hospital with a non life-threatening injury to his thigh.

Officers say the shooting does not appear to be gang-related.
