Port Appoints Interim Director Rob Fix As Exec. Director

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The port of Bellingham Board of Commissioners made a surprise decision Friday by picking Rob Fix to be the port's next executive director.

Port Commissioner Scott Walker says Fix has proven himself to be very effective negotiating with other agencies on plans to redevelop the waterfront.

The Port Commission had been looking at three other candidates for the position.

Fix joined the port as chief financial officer in 2008, and had been serving as interim director since April when the former executive director Charlie Sheldon resigned.

Fix previously said he was not a candidate for the position.
