Hatton knocked out in comeback try

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Ricky Hatton's comeback into the boxing ring ended in a stirring defeat Saturday at Manchester Arena. The former two-time world champion was knocked out by ex-WBA welterweight titlist Vyacheslav Senchenko in the ninth round.

Hatton (45-3, 32 KOs) retired over three years ago after being knocked out in the second round by Manny Pacquiao on May 2, 2009.

Senchenko (33-1, 22 KOs), who was coming off a ninth-round TKO loss to Paulie Malignaggi on April 29, stunned Hatton with a left hook. Hatton was counted out with eight seconds left in the ninth round.

Following the fight, the 34-year-old Hatton announced he was ending his career, again.
