Gang Members Arrested In Connection To Blaine Shooting

WHATCOM, Wash. -- Two area gang members are arrested in connection to a Blaine shooting in 2011.

Twenty-one-year-old transient Adrian Montelongo and 22-year-old Jose Santos of Bellingham were taken into police custody on Wednesday on attempted murder charges.

The pair is suspected of the non-fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man at the Golden Nut Company in December 2011.

Investigators found that the suspects retaliated against the victim for his involvement in a previous gang-related shooting in Bellingham.

Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks says that Steve Ibarra, another suspect in the case, is still under investigation.

Ibarra recently received a 46 month sentence for another shooting in Bellingham last April.

Authorities say all people involved in the incident are either gang members or associates.
