DNR: Was Derelict Fishing Boat Torched?

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Members of the King County Fire Investigation Unit are probing the wreck of the Deep Sea, the derelict fishing boat that burned and sank in Penn Cove last month.

The vessel was lifted from the bottom of the bay and now sits in dry dock at a Ballard shipyard.

KING 5 News reports the team of sheriff's deputies was called in by the State Department of Natural Resources to find out if the fire that caused an economic tragedy in Penn Cove was intentionally set or just a weird accident.

Part of the bay has been re-opened to mussel harvesting, but more tests are needed before commercial operations can resume.
