Retailers in Burlington last year reported nearly $565 million in retail sales, or more than $67,000 per resident.
Mike Gowrylow with the Department of Revenue says many of those shoppers don't live in Burlington.
Skagit County has the highest per capita retail sales among counties in the state. Skagit County and its cities, including Burlington, had $1.1 billion in total retail trade last year, or more than $9,500 for each resident.
Whatcom County ranked sixth in per capita retail sales as retailers reported more than $7,500 per resident.
