BP Sells SoCal Refinery To Tesoro

CARSON, Calif. -- BP announced yesterday the company is selling its refinery in Southern California, but a spokesman says the sale should mean good things for Whatcom County.

Tesoro has agreed to buy the BP refinery is Carson, Calif., as well as all CP terminals, pipelines and gas stations in the area.

BP spokesman Mike Abendhoff the company will now manage its northwest Washington, Oregon and Northern California operations from the Cherry Point Refinery near Ferndale.

He says BP announced plans to sell some refineries in February of last year.

The company is also selling the rights to its Arco gas stations from Washington to California, but Abendhoff says drivers wont see any difference at the pump.
